Speaker: Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price

Topic: “Mayor Talks Fort Worth Energy”

Betsy Price, elected in June 2011, is the 44th mayor of the City of Fort Worth, the 17th largest city in the United States and one of the fastest growing large cities in the country.

Price has focused her administration's efforts on fiscal responsibility, creating a stronger economy through public/private partnerships, and on strengthening neighborhoods through faith-based and citywide health engagement initiatives. Price maintains an innovative approach to citizen engagement, utilizing walking, rolling, caffeinated and Twitter townhalls to reach out to citizens. She is a strong supporter of young adults becoming civically engaged and has launched SteerFW, a group of more than 300 young citizens charged with learning about current challenges in the city and finding solutions. In addition to citizen engagement, Price continues to hold the line on providing flexible mobility options for Fort Worth’s citizens, and working with regional partners throughout North Texas to sustain and build upon economic success.

Price is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and is proud to be a Fort Worth native. In addition to serving on numerous Fort Worth boards, commissions and professional associations, Price also ran a successful small business for 17 years. With her experience in the community and in business, Price was elected in 2000 to serve as Tarrant County’s Tax Assessor. Under her leadership, her department became one of the most efficient in Texas, saving taxpayers millions of dollars and resulting in the department’s recognition statewide and nationally for efficiency, innovation and performance.
