Speaker: Jeff Henshall, Principal, Ryan Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Practice

Topic: Current Unclaimed Property Trends in the Oil and Gas Industry

In the last 2 years the Oil & Gas industry has been a major unclaimed property audit target for states and their contingency paid state agencies who also represent multiple states.  Each state agent has their own particular methodology and estimating calculations.  In this presentation, you will learn what property types are of interest, how to come into compliance or ensure your company is in compliance, what might trigger an audit and what to do in the event your company receives an audit notice.

With more than 20 years of unclaimed property experience, Jeff has served as a valued strategic advisor to companies ranging from mid-size enterprises to Fortune 50 corporations.  An industry veteran, Jeff has worked closely with businesses spanning multiple verticals, including oil and gas, insurance, healthcare, financial services, pharmaceuticals, retail, dining/restaurant and manufacturing. As a Principal with Ryan, a leading global tax services firm, Jeff has a track record for delivering solutions in the areas of audit defense, state settlements/negotiations, annual compliance, business process improvement, risk mitigation, pre/post acquisition due diligence and asset recovery. Before transitioning to professional services, Jeff spent more than six years with the State of Florida as the Unclaimed Property Compliance Supervisor. Throughout his career, Jeff has presented on a range of topics to industry organizations, including the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), International Claim Association (ICA), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and Marcus Evans Tax Summits.
